Various walks

Pointe du Conguel walk (Quiberon Bay and Ocean)

Departure from Porigo beach

Pass in front of the Fort Neuf, then the cale du Fort Neuf and walk along the beaches on the path provided for this purpose.

The Pointe du Conguel is a protected area where certain species of birds and plants are rare and extremely protected, which is why the dunes are surrounded by fences. So keep to the marked paths.

When you reach the end of the Pointe, you'll see the island of Houat straight ahead, with Hoëdic just behind it, Belle Île to the right and the island of Houat a little to the left.

Belle Île, a little to the left the Teignouse lighthouse, and in fine weather the entrance to the Gulf of Morbihan.

There is also an orientation table at the end of the Pointe if you wish.

Return along the other side of the Pointe. You'll probably see some holes paved with granite: these are the old ovens for goémons (seaweed used to make soda bread and fertiliser).

Walk around the Old Semaphore (La Lande)

Departure from the Current Semaphore (Tour Locmaria)

Walk along the car park of the current Semaphore and take the Chemin du Manio.

Once you reach the tower, climb up for a magnificent panoramic view of the wild coastline, Quiberon Bay and the surrounding moorland.

If you want to get there by car, you can park at the Sémaphore car park or at Kerné or Kerniscob, which are charming little villages with traditional houses. You can recognise traditional houses by their granite walls, and the small staircase leading up to the 1st floor from the front of the house (which used to lead to the bakehouse).

Walk along the Chemin des Douaniers (Quiberon Bay)

Start from the harbour master's office at Port Haliguen II

Take the steps up to the coastal path, and walk along the coast as far as Saint Julien beach.

When you reach Saint Julien beach, take the impasse Livoy de Kerfily as far as the Saint Julien chapel. Take rue des Goélettes, then Avenue des Druides and rue des Corsaires. Walk down rue Surcouf to the Quai des Sinagots and the Vieux Port de Port Haliguen I lighthouse.

Côte Sauvage walk (can be done on foot, with a hired bike or by car)

Start from Place du Varquez (Port Maria market square)

Take rue du Manémeur (start at the red-tiled house), then rue du Vivier as far as the menhir. Cross the road and go to Le Vivier to see the old reservoirs and admire the view of the rocks. Then continue along the coastal path.

If you are by bike or car, you can continue to follow the coast and coastal path through Port Bara and Port Blanc (head north).

For cars, there are car parks all along the Côte Sauvage where you can stop and walk around (free of charge).

At Port Blanc, take a walk on the rocks, where you'll see an old customs officer's house, not forgetting ancient Neolithic burial sites embedded in the granite.

You can also take a stroll around Portivy, where the old heart of the village is made up of old fishermen's houses and you'll have a great view of Fort Penthièvre and the beaches of Erdeven, Lorient and Groix (in fine weather).
